The Internal Landscape of the Self
(the hidden world)
Kat’s work explores the tenuous nature of connection and the barriers between. Kat is interested in how the true stories, the lies, the secrets, the conversations, the behavior, are all attempts to allow the rich landscape of our mind to be seen.
“I like that there are lots of secrets in the painting that no one knows about except for me, even as I try to reveal them. A desire to be known and to connect seems so fundamental and yet, no one ever gets everything. As much of yourself that you reveal in your art, you’re only revealing a little fingernail. No matter how much you expose, you are never exposing that much.”
